My son Nicolacci was born premature. He spent the first few weeks of his life in an incubator, a necessary but painful time for both of us. During those heart-wrenching weeks, when I hungered to hold and comfort my son, one of the volunteer nurses gave Nicolacci a baby blanket. That lovely gift brought back memories of my old baby blanket, of how that small piece of cloth had made me feel loved, warm and safe. I kept those thoughts close until finally I was able to wrap Nicolacci in his own baby blanket and take him home.
